Humboldt Peak quick facts:
- Summit: 14,070 feet.
- Humboldt peak is the easiest climb of the Crestone group of peaks. Still, depending on where you park, the hike can be up to an eighteen mile loop that requires preparation to complete.
- The peak was named after German explorer and geographer, Alexander von Humboldt. Settlers in the Wet valley below the peak formed a cooperative settlement that eventually failed, but the discovery of silver by Leonard Frederick in 1874 led to a revival in the area. He named the mine Humboldt and the settlers gave the mountain above it the same name.
