Torreys Peak quick facts:
- Named by Charles Parry, a botanist who was the first to ascend the peak for his friend and fellow botanist John Torrey. Torrey didn't see the mountain until eleven years after it was named.
- Summit: 14,267 feet
- Usually climbed in conjunction with Grays Peak, 3/4 of a mile away.
- Other names for the mountain include Irwins Peak. Since it is usually referenced with Grays Peak, the peaks were called the Twins by early miners and The Ant Hills by local Native Americans.
- The primary trail is a short continuation of the trail up Grays Peak which makes it a relatively easy hike and one of the easiest ways to do a "two-fer" in one day.
